LA TIMES' HOMICIDE REPORT (LAT HR)
COMPARISON TO
FBI's SUPPLEMENTARY HOMICIDE REPORT (SHR)
2012
Vivian Lam, Brandon Lam, Courtney Lee, Richa Shah

In the FBI's SHR the group found that there were 11 reported homicides that didn't show up in the LAT HR based on age, gender and date. In the LAT HR, there were 18 that didn't show up in the SHR based on age, date and location. There were 23 police officer involved homicides that were consistent between the two databases. The group found that five were very close to matching both databases, but were a year off in age or reported the death in the adjoining neighborhood.

FINDING INFORMATION ON MISSING OR UNREPORTED POLICE HOMICIDES

Social Media Group

The Group compared the LA Times' Homicide Report with the Youth Justice Coalition's newly-made .csv file to find incidents that occurred in the YJC report and not the LA Times' Report. They then found qualitative information on the incidents on social media. The spreadsheet below summarizes their findings.
